Designed by Miriam Lenarts, the SUNSET Collection explores the quiet movement of colour within knitwear.

The collection originated from a search to translate the principle of tie-dye into knitted form — not as a literal technique, but as a study of how one colour gently dissolves into another. What fascinated most was this moment of transition: where tones expand, soften and merge, without ever losing their balance.

To guide this process, I turned to images of sunsets. In nature, even the most expressive colour transitions remain inherently harmonious. Based on these observations, a palette of cotton yarns was composed — carefully selected for their ability to blend with nuance and depth.

Not every combination allows for such a natural transition. Especially in the skirt, where three colours flow into one another, the development required continuous testing and refinement. The aim was always to achieve a gradient that feels effortless — as if the colours naturally belong together.

Initially conceived in very fine linen, the collection evolved through technical necessity. The stiffness of linen yarn could not withstand the tension required during knitting, causing stitches to slip and creating ladders in the fabric. In close collaboration with the knitting specialist, the material was refined to a high-quality, lightweight cotton — offering both strength and fluidity.

To realise the colour transitions, a custom gradient pattern was developed. The pieces are constructed in a double knit, allowing the floating threads to be enclosed between two layers and remain invisible. This results in a clean surface, free from vulnerability, while enhancing durability and comfort.

The knit is supple and stable, moving naturally with the body while feeling soft against the skin.

To maintain full focus on colour, the designs are reduced to their essence — free from closures, ribbed edges or unnecessary detailing.

The top features a deep V-neckline to elongate the silhouette, with short, elegant sleeves that offer light coverage. Its relaxed shape falls smoothly over the waistband of a skirt or trousers, and is constructed from two equal colour layers that blend horizontally into one another.

The skirt, composed of four panels, creates a refined A-line silhouette with a mid-calf length. An elastic waistband ensures ease and comfort. The design is built from three equal colour sections, flowing gradually into each other in horizontal bands.

The generous scarf — or wrap — is developed in two colours that merge along a vertical line across its centre. It can be worn as a light wrap during a cooling summer evening, or as a scarf layered over a spring coat.

Two distinct colour stories define the collection: one inspired by a sunset in Bali, with more earthy, grounded tones; the other by a sunset in Ibiza, where the palette becomes more vibrant and luminous.

Each piece can be worn individually or combined into a complete ensemble, where colour and form align in a calm, expressive whole.

Produced in small series and finished by hand in the Netherlands, the SUNSET Collection reflects Studio Myr’s dedication to craftsmanship, natural materials and quietly enduring design.
